Utah Soaring Association is a large club with four different soaring locations in Northern Utah. The club provides basic and advanced instruction as well as multiple gliders for member use. Annual events such as an OLC Camp and regional/national competitions are also sponsored by the association.

The 2019 Soaring Season Begins!

Now is the time to pull out your flying gear and set up a spring checkout with your favorite club instructor. All of our ships will be insured and ready to fly by the first week in April. Logan is up and running right now, the other ports will come online as the snow load allows.

It’s that time of year we all refer to as the “silly season”. No one is immune to the rust that develops in our skills and judgment after several months of inactivity. This is serious business. Every one of us has stories to tell about dumb mistakes we make as the soaring season begins. Take it slow and careful. Fly with an instructor. Talk to your glider buddies. There will be gaps in your memory and skills.

There is a plethora of reading material available to help increase your knowledge and awareness. Start with the USA club articles web page available on the upper menu.

Some of this material was written by our own club members. Over the course of the season, our club members fly hundreds of flights. I’m sure there are many lessons learned during the silly season, as well as throughout the entire year. If you have a story to tell, or just want to help out with some information to the club, don’t hesitate to put it in writing and pass it along. Thanks!

Above all, enjoy the sky!
